Our mission is to develop unwanted horses into Wanted Horses through patience, rehabilitation, training, and stability. Our goal is to find the potential in our horses and build on it, this is to ensure they can find homes where they can excel.

WHICH KEEPS IT FROM BETTING ON PEOPLE.”

Forest Trails Horse Relief is a private nonprofit organization (we are not a 501(c) 3) founded in 2010.  We are dedicated to finding practical solutions to our unwanted horse population, and our focus is on the pleasure horse who has suddenly found himself homeless through no fault of his own. The majority of our horses come from private owners who are forced to give up their equines due to our failing economy. We provide the training and education these horses need to ensure themselves a stable and long term home.

Our volunteer board members consist of equine professionals and horse enthusiasts.  We are an inclusive group and are always seeking the input and advice from our supporters to help with our cause.

Everyone needs a hand and everyone has something to offer.

Forest Trails is blessed to have a diverse group of supporters who each bring something unique to the table.  We'd love to hear from you if you're interested in being involved with a casual, real, non-judgmental environment working for the betterment of horses.

We consider previous owners, our horses, and potential owners as our clients and therefore work with a sense of duty to all parties. We do not discriminate nor judge owners who feel the need to give up their horse, we accept any horse regardless of age, breed, color or gender, and we consider all potential new owners with an open mind.

Our system for training and rehabilitating homeless horses is vocational in approach.  We feel that both horses and humans need to be capable of performing meaningful work to be secure and happy members of society in today's dynamic world. It is our job to match horses to owners who will respect the capabilities of each individual horse.
